May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

The stats for our youth are profound and remind us of the prevalence of mental illness in the United States. Did you know?

  • 1 in 5 children have a mental health condition.
  • More than 50% of mental health issues develop by 14 years old and more than 75% by 24 years old.
  • Over 50% of students with emotional and behavioral disabilities ages 14 and older, drop out of high school. This is the highest dropout rate of any disability group!

As educators, it's our responsibility to help all students succeed and have the best outcomes possible. We invite you all to join us for our Mental Health Awareness Campaign in May and to attend our webinars for professional development around mental health and wellness for both adults and students.

Mental Health Webinars

Our webinars are free for anyone to attend.

What About Me? Nurturing Our Mental Wellness During Uncertain Times

  • When: Thursday, May 5th | 3:30 - 4:30 PM PST
  • Where: Virtual (through Zoom)
  • Description: What about me?! As an educational professional, how often have you asked yourself this question? All too often, educators feel as if they're stretched thin and maxed out - taking on more and compromising their well-being. In reality, stress is a ubiquitous human experience. As adults, we are called to take on a wide array of responsibilities and demands for ourselves and others. When our daily stress accumulates, it becomes toxic, not only affecting our wellness but those around us. The good news is we have a regulation system within our bodies that can be activated and strengthened to lower stress, improve mental wellness, and our overall sense of happiness.
  • Learning Objectives:
    • Participants will engage in content that is solely about their own personal needs and development.
    • Participants will walk away with strategies and tools to help increase mental wellness and regulate stress (both preventative and responsive).
  • Presented by: Educational Consultant, Jenna Cataleta, M.Ed. and Educational Consultant, Atsie Sanchez, LMFT, PPS

All the Q&As from the session can be viewed here.

Handouts and resources to accompany the webinar can be found here.

Supporting Students with Intensive Social-Emotional and Behavioral Needs

  • When: Thursday, May 19th | 3:30 - 4:30 PM PST
  • Where: Virtual (through Zoom)
  • Description: Core Five (C5) is a cognitive-based intervention program developed by Collaborative Learning Solutions (CLS) to specifically support students with significant social, emotional and/or behavioral needs. Participants will learn about the cognitive-based framework and the high leverage elements that CLS has found to be most effective in serving students. The webinar will also provide participants with numerous examples of how these elements have been put into practice by various educators and mental health professionals.
  • Learning Objectives:
    • Participants will gain an understanding of the C5 cognitive-based intervention framework.
    • Participants will learn how these high leverage elements have been successfully operationalized in programs serving students with a history of challenging behaviors.
  • Presented by: Our Founder & CEO, Dr. Jon Eyler, & Educational Consultant, Kenny McCarthy

Be a Part of the #ImpactONE Initiative!

As the awe-inspiring educator, Rita Pierson, once said, "Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them. Is this job tough? You betcha. But it is not impossible. We're educators. We're born to make a difference."

With the school year finishing out soon and schedules being busier than ever, it's an essential time to hit PAUSE and ask, "how can I impact ONE student today?" This reflection helps ground us to our "why" as educators.

We invite you to take this much-needed pause to be a part of our #ImpactONE initiative. Carve out some time in your schedule to reflect on these questions:

  • How am I positively IMPACTING others?
  • How have I been positively IMPACTED?
  • What positive IMPACT have I observed this school year?

This initiative will help you to create connections, and it truly makes a difference!

We want to hear from you about how it's going! Share your story with us and the Collaborative Learning Solutions community so we can elevate the impact!
