Weekly Focus: Mindfulness for Stress Management

Welcome Back to the CLS Daily SEL lessons! Due to your incredible feedback, we’ve decided to keep posting daily lessons, Monday through Friday until June 12. It is our hope that these continue to be helpful in giving children the needed skills to improve mental health and social-emotional skills. 

We are focusing on mindfulness for the rest of this week, and how mindfulness can be used for stress management. Thank you for using these simple lessons with your children.

Elementary Lesson – Body Scan

Instructions:

  1. Watch the video and follow along with the instructions
  2. Answer the following questions: 
  3. What did you notice when doing a body scan?
  4. How will this help you when you are stressed or anxious?
  5. Commit to doing a body scan every day in the morning and night for the next five days.

Secondary Lesson – Body Scan

Instructions:

  1. Watch the video and follow along with the instructions
  2. Answer the following questions:
  3. What did you notice when doing a body scan?
  4. How will this help you when you are stressed or anxious?
  5. List three strategies to relax your body if you discover tension.
  6. Commit to doing a body scan every day in the morning and night for the next week.
