Over the past 12 years, the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) has finalized 137 resolutions related to discrimination in discipline practices, and just under 20% of those resolutions have involved California school districts. Over the past 15 years, Dr. Jon Eyler and Dr. Eddie Fergus have partnered with hundreds of school districts across the nation to successfully mitigate disproportionate outcomes. They have supported several education agencies through the negotiation of both settlement and resolution agreements. Dr. Fergus and Dr. Eyler will share what they are learning through these resolutions and settlements. This webinar focuses on (1) the policies, practices and procedures that create increased risk for districts (2) the elements commonly found in these resolution/settlement agreements and (3) the strategies districts are engaging to effectively reduce disparities in student discipline.
